Mineski Philippines teamed up with Coins.ph, a digital wallet service, to deliver to its users an esports experience to call their own. What had begun as a conversation about giving Coins.ph gamer users a fun community activity eventually became the Challenger Series, a nationwide amateur Mobile Legends: Bang Bang tournament to the tune of a P300,000 prize pool.
Registration was free, but true to the commitment of making the Challenger Series a gift specifically for the Coins.ph community, only users with Level-2-verified accounts (required ID and selfie submission) were allowed to register. Still, Mobile Legends diehards and casuals alike came out in droves to participate.
The tournament held four online qualifiers on October 19 & 26 and November 2 & 9. Viewers of the livestream on Facebook Live also got opportunities to win in-game rewards for Mobile Legends in the form of diamonds. The top 8 teams from the qualifiers then went on to compete on-stage in front of a live audience on November 23, at the SM North Edsa The Annex mall in Quezon City, Philippines.
The mall venue was packed with an audience of Coins.ph users and Mobile Legends fans alike due largely in part as well to the appearance of several Filipino gaming influencers including massive streaming sensation ChooxTV.
Taking home P150,000 were the champions of the day, the players for A51 Steelwolves!
